Meet the Team at VPCC
Victoria Park Community Centre has a friendly and supportive team running every aspect of the centre. We appreciate their hard work and introduce them here so you can get additional support or a friendly greeting when you arrive.
Doreen Baker our Community Centre Manager has worked in the Charity and Not-for-Profit Sector for over thirty years both as a volunteer and member of staff. A former Chief Executive for a Charity Doreen joined us in June 2009 bringing her happily back to working in a community. As a Chartered Marketer she hopes to use her passion for marketing and community work to promote the Centre and provide a range of activities and services for the local residents and businesses.
Doreen lives in Mark and has two grown up children and is a doting Nanny to Grandson Jack. Her hobbies are tracing her family tree, reading and entertaining.
Martin Rawles is the Centre's Building Services Manager who happened to 'spearhead' the development of the Victoria Park Community Centre now leads a small staff team who diligently look after a wonderful facilities. Martin is married to his lovely Wife Julie and has always been an active local community member.
Brian Williams is one of two part-time Caretakers. Brian was born in Cannington and is married to our Cleaner Sally and they have four children and six grandchildren to keep them busy. When asked why he works at the centre Brian replied that he enjoys work, he's always worked and finds it better than hobbies! "There is always something different every day here at the centre and it certainly isn't mundane" he told us.
Catherine Spriggs has been a member of the team since June 2010 and has experience of working in an administrative role for various organisations. Catherine enjoys playing badminton, going to the gym and walking her three dogs. She also enjoys volunteering for charities and has even sat in a cat pen for 5 hours to raise money. Catherine told us " I enjoy working in the centre as I like to meet all types of people young and old. There is a good asmosphere and the team I work with is fantastic and we all have a sense of humour.
Gerry Boardman Gerry, a born joker with a great sense of humour was born in Bridgwater and after moving around the County in his younger days settled back in the area. Gerry a Father of three, worked for a number of local businesses before taking up a challenging task of working for himself. His hobbies are socialising, oil painting and writing poetry.
Charlene Boydell We are pleased to welcome our new catering assistant Charlene Boydell.
I am looking forward to meeting you - please stop by and say "hello". The Cafe sells good quality home cooked foods, I am looking forward to being part of the the community centre.
